This presumes that your IP address is assigned by DHCP
Log in as root.
Open a terminal window and change into the /etc/default directory.
Edit the file titled dhcpagent
On the very last line remove the number 12 from the entry there.
Create a new file in /etc called nodename
Edit this file and enter your desired hostname and reboot.
