Rocky Island is an island located in Cork Harbour. Its intended use was as a gunpowder store from which to store and supply the British forces in Ireland.
The island is located between Ringaskiddy on mainland and Haulbowline Island. The island itself is honeycombed with a network of tunnels and a main magazine that had a capacity of 25,000 barrels of gunpowder.
